The THAKRAL GROUP, one of Singapore’s largest homegrown conglomerates, has further increased its presence in the country by entering in an exclusive agreement with EMC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions.

EMC recently announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Thakral Infotech Inc, a subsidiary of the Thakral Group, to distribute and market EMC’s full range of industry-leading data storage solutions for the enterprise market in Philippines. Thakral Infotech will carry the full range of EMC’s business recovery and mid-market storage solution that includes product lines for archiving, backup and recovery; IT and data center management as well as replication and storage applications.

Balwant Singh Kumar has been part of the Thakral Group for the past over 21 years. He joined Thakral Group in 1988 as Finance Director of Thakral’s joint venture company engaged in manufacture of Polyester Filament Yarn, where he served the Group for 15 years.

Since 2003, Thakral Group re-assigned Mr. Kumar to Philippines for assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer of Technopaq, their flagship company in this country, as also the role of Country Manager of Thakral companies in Philippines. 

Mr. Kumar started his career as Banker and served Bank of India for 23 years, holding managerial positions at various Branches of the Bank, with his last posting with Singapore Branch of the Bank for six years (1982-1988).

Mr. Kumar holds a post-graduate degree in Commerce from University of Delhi. In his Bachelor degree, he held 4th position from the same University. He is also Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.
